Use case

Managing inventions with confidentiality at institutes and hospitals

Research institutes and hospital innovation offices use EnaTTO to manage invention disclosures, evaluations, patent applications, funded projects and industry collaboration in their own separate environment. EnaTTO is technology transfer software; it does not manage patient data or clinical processes.

Invention disclosures

Researchers and staff submit disclosures; the default confidentiality class is confidential.

Confidentiality classes

Public, internal, confidential and strictly confidential; access is decided per record on the server.

Time-limited external experts

External reviewers and patent attorneys see only their assigned record, for a set period.

Funded projects

National and international funding programmes, calls, teams, consortia and budgets.

Industry demands

Company demands are matched with reasons against the expertise and laboratory directory.

Benchmarking by type

Opt-in benchmarking groups peers by institution type; research institutes and hospitals are separate types.

Common challenges

  • Inventions arise in research units but reach the TTO late.
  • Documents are shared with external reviewers and attorneys over uncontrolled e-mail.
  • Publication plans are not coordinated with the IP review.
  • Funded projects and industry agreements are tracked separately in different units.

Records kept together

  • Invention disclosures and planned publication and presentation dates
  • Technical, commercial and patentability evaluations
  • Committee and institutional decisions
  • Patent applications, deadlines and costs
  • Funding calls, projects and consortium partners
  • Industry demands, meetings and agreements

Your environment, your rules

Every organisation runs in a separate environment with its own database and document store. Units (departments, centres, laboratories) form a tree within the organisation; partner institutions and companies are kept in the directory as ecosystem partners.

Confidential invention information

Invention disclosures start as confidential. Planned publication and presentation dates are recorded with the disclosure and tracked as IP deadlines; until the institution’s IP review is recorded, they stay out of exports, notification text and external users’ views.

Scope

EnaTTO manages inventions, patents, projects, industry collaboration, startups, training and commercialisation. It contains no patient records, clinical data or medical device functions, and it never sends confidential records outside your environment.
