EnaTTO is a technology transfer and innovation management platform for universities, technology transfer offices (TTOs), technology parks and research centres. It brings invention disclosures, IP and patents, projects and funding, industry collaboration, startups, training and commercialisation into one admin panel. This guide lists the steps from a new organization to the first invention disclosure on its way to a decision.
Required role
- Organization settings, users and workflows need the Owner or Administrator role.
- Module records (disclosures, portfolio, projects, industry, startups, academy, commercialisation) are managed by TTO staff and owners.
- Academics and researchers usually have the Member role: they open their own disclosures and project ideas. See Roles and permissions.
Step by step
Check the organization settings
Open System management. Under Organization identity check the name, short name and logos. Under Regional settings check the default language, the time zone, the country and the fiscal year start. The country selects the regulatory profile (suggested patent offices, funding catalogue, reporting framework). See Organization settings.
Set up the directory
Under Institutions and units add your main institution and its units (faculties, departments, centres, laboratories). Under People add academics and staff, or import a staff list from CSV or Excel. Companies, funders and patent attorney firms go under Ecosystem partners. See Directory and Importing people and units.
Invite users
Go to Users → Add user, enter the email, choose a role and send the invitation. Give TTO managers and specialists TTO staff, academics Member, and leaders who only need aggregate figures Institutional viewer. See Signing in and users.
Fill the workflow pools
Open Workflows and add people to the pools that receive workflow tasks, for example IP specialists, IP managers and TTO director for invention disclosures. A stage whose pool is empty creates no tasks. If a committee decides on disclosures, create it under Committees and select it as the deciding committee in the workflow. See Workflows and Committees.
Receive the first invention disclosure
An inventor opens Invention disclosures → Create disclosure, adds the inventors and the summary, and clicks Submit to TTO. A TTO specialist runs the completeness check and evaluation; the committee and the institution decide. See Invention disclosures.
Try it with demo data first
While the organization has no records, an owner can load a fictional demo dataset under System management → Maintenance → Setup → Load demo data. All names and inventions are invented and no sign-in accounts are created. See Maintenance, backups and updates.
