The Portfolio holds the institution's protected inventions and other protection records. A portfolio record groups the applications filed for one invention at different offices, with their deadlines, correspondence and expenses.
Required role
- Manage intellectual property (TTO staff, Owner) manages portfolio records.
- A patent attorney is a Member assigned to an application; they see only what they are assigned to.
Portfolio records
A record opens automatically when a protection decision is approved on a disclosure. To add one by hand, go to Portfolio → Create portfolio record and enter the name, Type (Patent family, Utility model, Design, Trade secret or Software), confidentiality and, optionally, the Source disclosure. A record's status is Active, Abandoned or Expired. The list shows the number of applications and the next deadline.
Applications
On the portfolio record, Applications → Add application:
- Choose the Office and the Application type: National patent, PCT, European patent, Utility model or Design. The offices offered come from your regulatory profile: your national office plus the EPO, WIPO and USPTO. Existing applications keep their office if the profile changes.
- Enter the Application number, Filing date and Priority date. These dates drive the deadline suggestions.
On the application page you can add the Publication number and date, the Grant number and date, and notes. Change status moves the application between Preparation, Filed, Published, Under examination, Granted, Refused, Withdrawn and Lapsed; each change is added to the Status history with an optional note.
Patent attorney
Under Attorney → Assign attorney choose an organization user and the date their access ends; access closes automatically at the end of that day. The attorney sees only this portfolio record, its applications and deadlines. They can update the application details and correspondence, but never see expenses or internal notes.
Office correspondence
Under Office correspondence → Add correspondence record letters from and to the office: direction (Incoming or Outgoing), type (Examination report, Search report, Opposition, Refusal, Notice, Response, Other), Letter date, a summary and, optionally, the letter's document code. If you enter Reply due, it is added as a deadline with reminders.
Expenses
Under Expenses → Add expense enter the type (Office fee, Attorney fee, Translation, Annual fee, Search, Other), amount, currency, date, who paid and, optionally, the application. Each expense keeps its own currency; Totals are shown per currency and there is no conversion. Deleting an expense is permanent, but it stays in the audit log.
EnaTTO does not replace the office portal
EnaTTO tracks applications that you file with the offices yourself. It does not file applications, draft claims or give legal opinions.
