A research project in EnaTTO starts as an idea or directly as a proposal. The proposal goes through the Project proposal workflow: Proposal preparation → Internal approval → Ready to submit → Under review → In progress.

Required role

  • Ideas and proposals: Open project ideas and proposals (Member, TTO staff, Owner). The person who opens a proposal becomes its principal investigator (PI).
  • Managing all projects and approving: Manage projects and the funding catalog (TTO staff, Owner) and the people in the Research office pool.

Ideas

Ideas is for ideas that are not yet proposals. Click Add idea and give a title, field and short description. Only you and project managers see your idea. When it is ready, Turn into project: you become the PI and proposal preparation starts. An idea can also be archived and restored.

Open a proposal

Go to Projects → Open proposal. Enter the title, Acronym, Project summary (aims, method, expected outputs), the Target call, the planned start and end, the confidentiality, keywords and sectors.

Under Team → Edit team add members with their role (Principal investigator, Researcher, Scholar, Advisor, Other). An External member is someone without an organization account; they cannot see the project. Internal team members see the project; only the PI and project managers see budget details.

Under Consortium → Edit partners add partner institutions by their directory partner code or by name, with their role (Coordinator, Partner, Subcontractor, Other), country and budget share. There is a single coordinator.

The project budget is kept in the currency of the selected programme.

Internal approval

When the summary and target call are filled in, click Send for internal approval. People in the Research office pool approve or Request changes with an explanation. If your organization switched on the second level (Dean / vice rector), it approves next. Internal approval has a 5-day deadline by default; the Project managers pool is notified when it passes.

Submission and result

After approval the proposal is Ready to submit. Submit it on the funder's portal, then record it under Submissions → Record submission: the call, Submission date, Official application no., the amount Requested and a note. Then click Mark as submitted.

While the proposal is Under review, update the submission with Update result: Accepted, Rejected or Withdrawn, the amount Awarded and the Result date. With an accepted submission the project can move to Funded and In progress; otherwise mark it Rejected. During preparation the PI can also withdraw the proposal.
